Simi High Choral Alumni Association Newsletter Vol. 6, Issue 1

Dear Alumni and Friends,

We are now starting the planning phase of our July 2007 reunion and there is a lot to be done. We need to find a date, a place to hold the reunion, the events you want to be involved in, finding lost alumni, etc.

Your help is needed and this is how you can do this. We have developed a short survey consisting of 10 questions with room for suggestions. We are asking that you complete this survey, which should only take about 1 or 2 minutes of your time, and send it back to us. The sooner we get the information, the sooner we can begin getting things put in place.

We would like all survey responses back by June 1 so that Randy Ward and I can begin working on getting music together, finding directors, etc.

FINDING ALUMNI
One large aspect to make this reunion successful is finding alumni. If you have attended a class reunion within the last 5 years and received a memory book I am asking that you copy or scan the pages containing contact information and send them to me at EstherSmith@juno.com so I can contact them.

Also, if any alumni would like to help in this area by contacting and finding lost alumni, please let me know. We have several sources, such as Classmates.com, Alumni.net, etc., as well as friends who may be in contact with some of our members. If you would like to help in this area, please let me know.

 
SCANNING PICTURES
One more piece of help would be grateful. I have not finished the memory book from the 2002 and 2004 reunions because I have not been able to get the pictures of our alumni who have passed on. If anyone, who has the time, can go to the Simi Valley High School and look up these pictures using the scanner and computer Bill Paulsen has available, I would truly appreciate it.

This is a time consuming job. Since I live out-of-state, it is impossible for me to do this. If you can assist in this, please contact Bill Paulsen at wdp2k@sbcglobal.net.

The memory book will be available to purchase or pick-up (if preordered) at the 2007 reunion. This will save costs by not having to mail them out.

 
RECORDING ACCOMPANIMENT
Anyone who has the capability of recording the accompaniment to the pieces we are going to perform, please contact either Randy Ward or myself. We can use recordings from a cassette tape or CD. The person that we use to record the voices for the rehearsal CD’s/tapes, can use any media to transfer the music to his equipment. I will provide the music to you as soon as we know what pieces we are going to sing. This would be a tremendous help as the person we would possibly have available here would be extremely expensive and we want to keep the cost of the reunion down as much as possible.

 
DIRECTORS
Randy Ward will be contacting those of you who we know are choral directors to ask if you would like to help out at the next reunion. If you are interested, please contact Randy and he will give you the guidelines of what we are looking for.

Regarding the groups that will be performing, this will be determined upon the results of the survey. That information will go out in the June newsletter.

 
NEEDS A TITLE

The staff of our organization would like to thank everyone who has helped in the past and everyone who has participated. The last two reunions have been wonderful and singing together again was great.

We will have recordings available from both reunions in 2007. A price list will go out as soon as we have them available. Preordering will also help so we can make sure we have the copies available for those who have preordered. More information will be available on this at a later date.
